Kathryn Joosten of ‘Desperate Housewives’ earns posthumous Emmy Award nomination:

Kathryn Joosten, who played nosy but ultimately likable neighbor Karen McCluskey on “Desperate Housewives,” was nominated posthumously for her fourth Emmy Award this morning. The honor makes the late-blooming character actress, who died last month, one of Emmy’s rare posthumous nominees.

Joosten — best known for her roles as Mrs. Landingham on “The West Wing” and McCluskey on “Housewives” — died of lung cancer 20 days after her character did in the series finale. This is the first time she has received a nomination in the supporting actress category as a cast regular; she was previously nominated for three Emmys for “Housewives” as a guest actor, winning twice in 2005 and 2008.

Desperate Housewives - Season 8 - E! News Exclusive - Kathryn Joosten Glad Housewives is Ending!?

We already know that Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman is “really sad” that the ABC series’ eighth season will be its last.

But which one of the Huffman’s Desperate costars is actually happy to see the show coming to an end?

“I’m glad to be done with it,” Kathryn Joosten, who plays sharp-tongued Mrs. McCluskey, told us last night at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Performers Peer Group 2011 Emmys cocktail reception at L.A.’s Sheraton Universal Hotel.

Why’s that?

“Because it’s said everything there is to say and done it,” she explained. “There hasn’t been that much for me to do anyhow because they don’t know how to write for people my age…There haven’t been any stories for me for the last two years.”

Joosten did admit, however, she will miss the crew. “Absolutely fabulous crew,” she said. “It’s almost like family and I will definitely miss them.”
